A Recent Feature + A Way to Give Back

Ever have something happen in your life that both shows you where you’ve come from and gives you a confidence boost to keep walking in that same direction? I’ve had a couple of moments recently that reminded me why I love what I do.

My Guitar Girl music teaching studio was recently featured in an article about hidden gems in the Far North Dallas area. It’s always a bit surreal to see something so personal reflected back from the outside, but I’m grateful for the chance to share what this studio has grown into and what it continues to mean to me.

It was an honor to be asked to share my story for a local magazine. When asked how I got started—and prompted more with a statement than a question (“I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?”)—not only did the memories come flooding back, but so did the realization that I’m still here… and that I had a lot of help and goodness along the way to make the road not all that rocky. I also realized something else: I still love what I’m doing—and apparently, so do others.

Just as meaningful to me has been the chance to give back in the community.

Guitar Girl donated a lesson package to a local elementary school auction, with proceeds supporting their programs. Opportunities like this are always close to my heart. In past years, I was part of similar efforts through ScottSound Music—as well as organizing student groups to perform at school events—and it means a lot to continue that kind of involvement through my own studio.

If you’d like to take a look or place a bid, you can do so here: www.rmhpta.org/auction(Bidding is open through May 18, 2026.)

Thank you, as always, for being part of this journey—whether as a student, a parent, or simply someone who believes in the value of music. Your support is what allows moments like these to happen.
